Why should you spend extensive time in the countryside?

Well first of all, why the hell not? It has never been better to live in the countryside in history. Modern technology allows you to stay connected wherever you are, so if your work is location independent you should go out there exploring different lifestyles. Weather that is living on a beach in Bali, in an Airbnb in Chiang Mai or Serbian countryside. The best thing about living in today’s world is that you can live everywhere and reap the benefits of each and every place. So let me tell you, what are just some of the upsides of spending extensive times in the countryside.

You have time for everything

Time flows differently in the countryside and you are the boss of your own time. Sometimes we don’t even realise how much time we lose on our daily tasks and chores in the big towns and cities. Whether that is parking, commuting, choosing the coworking space, minutes and hours tend to go by while we do these things.

Another reason where we lose time is the complicity of an urban life. It might sound strange, but sometime, there are just too many options for everything. Choosing the best town area, the best restaurant, the best coffee, the best bar, best coworking space, the best barber. Life in the countryside is simpler and thus less stressful, just on the count of this, you will have more time to focus on your work, yourself and people around you.

You reconnect with nature

Spending time in the nature means spending time away from noise, traffic, concrete, and tones of studies have proven that reconnecting with nature restores balance within us. When you are away from the big urban settlements, you are 3 minutes away from that run in the forest or the corn field. And one thing is certain, when you are in a small village anywhere in the world where the outdoors is close by, you will spend more time outside on fresh air, you will tire more, sleep better, you will be more creative, you will have more energy and bottom line – you will be happier.

You eat healthier food

Being in the countryside places you closer to the source of food production, thus you get to have the first pick of the fresh food. In Mokrin House for example, we have deals with local farmers to treat their animals, fruits and vegetables, fairly and organically, and we guarantee their purchase. By cutting out the middleman, we can output the freshest and tastiest food for an extremely decent price!

You meet people quicker and more intimately

When you spend time in a smaller community, especially in a coliving space like Mokrin House, you meet people much quicker – just because you are there, working together, eating together, spending after work hours and drinking wine together. When in the cities, normally everybody has their own agenda – that is not the case in the countryside. People tend to plan things together, whether that is picking a movie to watch, selecting a workshop or going for a bike ride. People are directed towards  and to each other, due to the size of the community and thus develop connection faster and more profoundly.

We all need a city vibe from time to time, some more, some less, but that is why Mokrin House is there. So that whenever you have the urge to escape the city and focus on work, you can come for a week, for a month, for a year if you need to.

Traveling and moving can sometimes be stressful, and we understand that. That is why we recommend that you have a Skype chat with our project leader and coordinator if you are at all interested or considering living and working in Mokrin House. Ivan will explain how everything around here works and answer any questions you guys might have. The chat is just so that you can get to know us a bit better and doesn’t commit you to anything.
