Last time Sara Vilas Santiago was here, she gave us this amazing review.
Something has changed in Sara’s life since then, she is now location independent, living a life as a digital nomad. And she decided to start this adventure by visiting Mokrin House again, asking us to keep room number 4 reserved especially for her. 🙂
Sara published a post on her Instagram page, sharing her thoughts about the whole trip:
When I tell people I spent 5 weeks in the rural Serbia the reaction is always “why…?” So today I’d thought I’d share my thoughts about it with you now that you’re reading this.
This area in the north of the country is inspiring beyond words. There was an Orient Express stop in Mokrin once and the town next to it was home to one of the most luxurious hotels of Yugoslavia a couple of decades ago. Then war happened and they lost too much. When you walk around you feel like it all stopped about 20 years ago. Time passed, houses decay, people left, and renovations didn’t happen.
When you’re here you really realize and understand that you can have it all, but you can also lose it all in the blink of an eye. And you may have not control at all over it.
It’s humbling beyond description. And magnetic. When you enter @mokrin_coworking and see how innovative it is, how hard working and incredibly amazing everyone that works there is, and how involved they are bringing hope and opportunities to a village that is trying still to get back up, you can’t help but fall in love with all of it. You can’t just avoid the positive, hopeful, and persevering energy that this place instills in you. You will have to take it in, let it sink in you. You will end up being more productive and determined than you’ve ever been before. Because you will understand that yes, there are things that you can’t do anything about, but you have to entirely own all of those on your hands while you can. And you will eventually feel more grateful than you can ever express.
So this is why I love this place. And this is why I will always be back <3
We’re glad Sara has been so productive these past 5 weeks and we can’t wait for her to get back! 🙂
